How Advertising and Sponsorships Are Handled on Boba.guide
This policy explains how commercial content may appear on Boba.guide, how paid relationships are identified, and how advertising is kept separate from independent editorial judgment.
Advertising can help support the site. It does not buy a favorable review, a place in a “best” list, a factual conclusion, or the right to disguise marketing as independent advice.

The rules in plain English
Five Standards Apply Across Our Commercial Relationships
The exact format can vary, but these principles are the baseline for advertising, sponsorship and other paid commercial material on Boba.guide.
Commercial material should not be deliberately presented in a way that causes a reasonable reader to mistake it for independent editorial judgment.
An advertiser may purchase an agreed commercial deliverable. It does not purchase the conclusion of an unrelated guide, comparison, explainer or recommendation.
Payment does not turn an unsupported objective claim into a fact. Advertising about ingredients, prices, certifications, performance or other verifiable matters may require an appropriate basis.
When sponsorship, compensation, affiliate commission, complimentary products or another material relationship matters to how content should be understood, we aim to make that relationship clear.
We may reject, request changes to, pause or remove commercial material when it creates meaningful concerns about accuracy, safety, legality, rights, transparency or reader trust.
Editorial separation
A Simple Test: Would the Editorial Answer Change Because Someone Paid?
For independent editorial work, the answer should be no. Commercial involvement can fund a clearly defined commercial product, but it should not quietly rewrite an unrelated editorial conclusion.
A brand can pay for an agreed placement that is identified as commercial.
A brand cannot purchase a secret instruction requiring an independent guide to call its drink, shop, topping or product the best.
A commercial partner may participate in a clearly disclosed sponsored project whose scope is agreed in advance.
Sponsorship does not give either party a reason to knowingly publish an inaccurate price, ingredient, location, product feature or other factual claim.
A commercial relationship on one project does not automatically give the advertiser control over unrelated future coverage.
Disclosure depends on the relationship
How Different Commercial Relationships May Be Identified
The wording can vary with context. The important point is that disclosure should communicate what materially matters rather than hide the relationship behind vague language.
Advertising units should be visually or contextually distinguishable from ordinary editorial content and navigation.
Content created as part of a paid sponsorship should carry an appropriate sponsorship or commercial disclosure rather than masquerade as an unrelated editorial article.
Where Boba.guide may earn a commission from qualifying purchases or actions, the relationship is covered in more detail by our Affiliate Disclosure.
If a relevant product, sample, meal, event ticket, access or other material benefit was provided without charge and that relationship matters to the content, it may require disclosure.
Where a company financially supports a defined project without purchasing its independent conclusions, the support should still be identified when it is material to the reader’s understanding.
Commercial boundaries
Payment Cannot Buy These Things
A clear boundary is more useful than vague promises about “integrity.”
A hidden positive review. Paid praise should not be passed off as an unrelated independent review.
A guaranteed “best” ranking. Advertising does not entitle a shop, brand or product to an undisclosed first-place position in independent editorial coverage.
A fabricated tasting or visit. We do not claim that someone tasted a drink, visited a shop, tested equipment or used a product when that did not happen.
Control over unrelated facts. An advertiser cannot require us to knowingly misstate a menu, price, ingredient, location, historical fact or other independently verifiable information.
Guaranteed search performance. Buying advertising does not purchase a guaranteed Google ranking, organic search position or editorial backlink.
Silence about material context. A commercial agreement does not automatically require removal of accurate information simply because it is inconvenient to the advertiser.
Claims inside advertisements
Commercial Copy Does Not Get a Free Pass on Accuracy
Advertisers are responsible for the claims and materials they provide. Boba.guide may also ask questions or request changes where a claim creates an obvious accuracy, safety or trust concern.
Prices should match the market, product, size, conditions and campaign period being represented. A temporary promotion should not be presented as an unconditional permanent price.
Statements such as “dairy-free,” “vegan,” “sugar-free,” “all natural” or similar claims should accurately reflect the advertised product and relevant conditions.
Health, nutrition and wellness claims deserve particular care. Advertising should not turn uncertain or unsupported claims into medical-sounding promises.
Claims about geographic origin, traditional production, certifications, awards or authenticity should not imply evidence that does not exist.
Claims that a product is cheaper, faster, healthier, stronger, more popular or otherwise superior should have an appropriate factual basis when presented as objective comparison rather than opinion.
Advertising acceptance
We May Review More Than the Banner Itself
The reader’s experience can extend from the advertisement to the page it opens. For that reason, acceptance can depend on both the creative and its destination.
We may reject advertising that materially misrepresents a product, offer, price, business, ingredient, availability or expected result.
Advertising should not intentionally imitate site navigation, editorial controls or independent content in a way designed to trick a reader into clicking.
We may reject or remove advertising linked to a destination that creates meaningful malware, phishing, deceptive-download, security or other safety concerns.
Advertisers should have the necessary rights to use supplied trademarks, photographs, illustrations, copy, video and other campaign assets.
Some advertising may be unavailable or restricted because of applicable law, advertising-network requirements, technical limitations or other obligations relevant to the campaign.
We may limit creative that is excessively disruptive, misleadingly interactive or otherwise incompatible with a usable reading experience.
Advertising, data and targeting
Advertising Technology May Involve Data Beyond the Visible Ad
Depending on the advertising technology used on the site, advertising providers may use cookies, similar technologies, device or browser information, contextual signals or other permitted data to deliver, measure or limit advertising.
This policy does not replace our Privacy Policy, which is the appropriate place for information about site data practices and privacy choices.
The presence of an advertisement on a page does not mean that an advertiser authored the page, selected its editorial conclusion or received access to Boba.guide’s editorial decision-making.
Not every commercial relationship is a banner ad
Samples, Complimentary Products, Events and Other Access
A company may sometimes provide something of value without purchasing conventional advertising. The important questions are what was provided, whether it is material to the content, and whether it could reasonably affect how readers interpret the work.
Receiving a product does not guarantee positive coverage or publication. Where the relationship materially matters, it may be disclosed.
If a shop, event organizer or company provides complimentary access, food, drinks, travel or another meaningful benefit, that context may need to accompany resulting coverage.
Sending Boba.guide a sample does not create an obligation to review, mention, return, recommend or publish it unless arrangements were made in advance.
Complimentary access does not turn a negative observation into a required positive one. Factual and editorial judgments remain subject to the same standards applied to the work itself.
Advertising is not permanently approved by default
When We May Request Changes, Pause or Remove an Ad
Creative may require revision
We may ask for changes to wording, disclosure, imagery, destination URLs or other material before a campaign is accepted.
A campaign can be reviewed again
New information may reveal that an advertisement or destination no longer matches what was originally reviewed.
A safe approved link should not become something materially different
If a destination changes, redirects unexpectedly, becomes unavailable or introduces significant new concerns, the associated advertising may be paused or removed.
A commercial relationship does not prevent factual correction
If Boba.guide publishes an editorial factual error involving an advertiser or sponsor, correction is handled under our Corrections Policy, not according to whether the company purchased advertising.
