Community standards

Guidelines for submissions, corrections and community contributions.

These guidelines explain what readers, experts, shops, photographers and other contributors may submit to Boba.guide and the standards used to review, edit, publish or decline submitted material.

Purpose

What do these guidelines cover?

These guidelines apply to corrections, shop suggestions, recipes, photographs, expert comments, business updates, article proposals, community tips and other material submitted to Boba.guide.

They apply whether a submission is sent by email, form, direct message or another approved channel. Separate written agreements may add more specific terms for paid, commissioned or licensed work.

What may be submitted

Types of useful contributions

Corrections

Reports of inaccurate facts, outdated business details, broken links, unclear wording or missing context.

Boba shop information

New openings, closures, relocations, menu updates, accessibility details and verified service information.

Recipes and techniques

Original drink, topping, syrup, tea-base or preparation ideas supported by clear instructions and testing.

Expert insight

Attributed comments from tea professionals, shop owners, recipe developers, researchers and other specialists.

Photography and visuals

Original or properly licensed photographs, diagrams and illustrations with complete rights information.

Editorial proposals

Specific article, comparison, guide or research ideas that match the site’s subject and audience.

Required standards

What should every submission satisfy?

  • Relevant to boba, bubble tea, tea, toppings, ingredients, equipment, shops or related culture
  • Accurate to the submitter’s best knowledge
  • Original or shared with appropriate permission
  • Free from hidden sponsorship or undisclosed conflicts
  • Respectful, lawful and suitable for a general audience
  • Clear enough to verify and understand
  • Free from malware, deceptive links and unnecessary personal information

Evidence improves a submission

Useful supporting material may include official websites, current menus, photographs, receipts, public announcements, product labels, professional credentials or other reliable documentation.

Prohibited material

What should not be submitted?

Copied content

Articles, images, reviews, menus or other material copied without permission or proper rights.

Fabricated information

Invented reviews, fake credentials, false quotations, manipulated evidence or claims presented as verified facts.

Hidden advertising

Promotional material presented as neutral community information without disclosing the commercial relationship.

Harassment or hate

Threats, abusive personal attacks, discriminatory content, doxxing or targeted harassment.

Sensitive personal data

Passwords, payment-card information, medical records, private addresses or unnecessary identifying information.

Unsafe or unlawful content

Instructions, links or material that promotes fraud, harmful conduct, illegal activity or dangerous misuse.

Corrections

How should an error be reported?

Identify the exact page, quote or factual claim, explain what appears wrong and provide a reliable source or direct evidence when possible. Reports should distinguish factual errors from personal disagreement.

A correction request does not guarantee removal, but credible evidence will be reviewed under the site’s correction process.

Business updates

What should a shop update include?

Include the business name, location, current website or social profile, the information that changed and proof that the submitter is authorized or using a reliable public source.

Boba.guide may contact the business or independently verify the information before updating a local guide.

Recipes

What is required for a recipe submission?

  • Original instructions written by the submitter
  • Clear ingredient quantities and serving information
  • Tested preparation steps and realistic timing
  • Storage, safety and allergen notes where relevant
  • Disclosure of any brand or commercial relationship
  • Photographs supplied only with appropriate rights
Expert contributions

What should an expert provide?

Experts should identify their role, relevant experience, organization and any connection to products, businesses or claims discussed. Statements may be edited for clarity without changing their intended meaning.

Boba.guide may verify credentials, request supporting evidence or decline statements that are promotional, unverifiable or outside the contributor’s demonstrated expertise.

Photos and media

What must accompany visual submissions?

Identify the creator, rights holder, subject, date when relevant, required credit and the permission covering publication. Disclose whether the image was generated, materially edited or supplied by a business.

Do not submit images of private individuals, children, confidential documents or restricted locations without appropriate authorization.

Submission does not transfer every right automatically

Rights and permitted uses depend on the submission terms, license or written agreement. Boba.guide may request confirmation before publishing or reusing visual material.

Review and moderation

How are submissions evaluated?

Relevance

Does the material fit the topic, audience and structure of Boba.guide?

Accuracy

Can important facts, claims, identities and supporting information be verified?

Originality

Does the submission add independent value rather than repeat or copy existing material?

Rights

Does the submitter have authority to provide the text, images, quotes and other material?

Transparency

Are commercial, employment, ownership and personal relationships clearly disclosed?

Reader value

Will publication make the site more useful, accurate, accessible or complete?

Editing rights

Can Boba.guide edit submitted material?

Boba.guide may edit submissions for clarity, grammar, length, structure, factual accuracy, accessibility, links, disclosures and consistency with site standards.

Material changes to attributed expert statements may be returned for confirmation when appropriate.

Publication decisions

Is publication guaranteed?

No. A submission may be declined, combined with other material, held for later use, published in part, updated after publication or removed when it no longer meets current standards.

Boba.guide is not required to provide detailed reasons for every declined unsolicited submission.

License to review submissions

What permission is needed to process a submission?

By submitting material, you confirm that Boba.guide may store, review, reproduce internally, verify and communicate about it as reasonably necessary to evaluate the submission.

Publication, adaptation, commercial use or broader reuse may require separate permission, license terms or written agreement depending on the material and context.

No confidentiality by default

Are unsolicited ideas confidential?

Unsolicited submissions are not treated as confidential unless a written agreement says otherwise. Do not send trade secrets, embargoed information or proprietary business plans without prior approval.
